08/24/2026 Click Above to Watch the Morning Market Talk Video Funds Love Grain Again, But Boat Tilting Heavily On the Grains Corn futures surged to contract highs overnight on support from Pro Farmer’s yield and production estimates of 173.2 bu. per acre and 15.344 billion bu., respectively. Soybeans traded lower overnight as Pro Farmer estimated yield at a record 53.3 bu. per acre and production of 4.572 billion bu., but have worked well off their overnight lows. Corn and soybeans can trade in opposite directions for brief periods but tend to move together over the course of time. The corn numbers are obviously what grabbed more of trades’ attention, for obvious reasons, as they would greatly tighten the balance sheet and require a rationing of demand through higher prices. Wheat markets were supported by surging corn overnight, but geopolitical factors also remain in play as Russia and Ukraine continue their assault on either other. Winter wheat markets are approaching their late-July highs; spring wheat is still well below its late-July and May highs.
