Another .6 of inch of rain fell here overnight to cool things off after a warm day Monday. That followed 1.2-3.7 inches in our region the night before. Our forecast for the NCB is rinse and repeat daily for the entire week. Ridge running thunderstorms result from cold fronts clashing with the high-pressure dome.   High temps gradually cool off as the week progresses. Corn leaves are not rolling from the heat here yet. There is haze from western wildfires blowing smoke at us. The Bermuda high is spinning moisture up from the gulf clinging clockwise to the high-pressure system creating conditions for rain for the NW half of the corn-belt while the rest of the corn-belt remains hot and dry. Enough rain means that we have yet to tap subsoil moisture reserves. There appears to be enough water in the ground to support pollination. We currently still have near 100% of our yield potential. My concern now is primarily wind and hail. Note that where the heat is centered has been pretty well watered.   Let’s look at the grain markets from 40,000 feet to see how we got here.
