02/17/2026 Click Above to Watch the Morning Market Talk Video Grains Start Holiday Shortened Week Under Pressure On the Grains SRW wheat futures led losses in the grain markets overnight. Soy oil is trading just below last week’s contract highs, which is helping keep soybeans near unchanged. Crude oil futures erased earlier losses and are around $1 higher after Iran said parts of the Strait of Hormuz would be closed for “several hours” while it conducts military drills ahead of a second round of negotiations with the U.S. in Geneva. Gold and silver faced price pressure overnight. Trading volume was thin overnight as China’s markets are closed through Feb. 23 for Lunar New Year. Many other Asian markets are also closed for varying periods during the next several days for the holiday. India’s chief trade negotiator is set to travel to Washington next week to finalize the long-negotiated trade agreement between New Delhi and the United States. Key questions heading into next week’s talks: Scope of tariff reductions — Are cuts broad-based or sector-specific? Reciprocity — What concessions is India offering in return?
