10/17/2025 Click Above to Watch the Morning Market Talk Video ADM Says Free DP for Soybeans On the Grains Reuters published an article this morning about ADM seeking to ‘lure’ soybean sales by offering free delayed pricing at its plant in Decatur, IL. Terms of the price-later contract include no storage charges until next September in exchange for farmers delivering the crop now. The move was notable for occurring so quickly after the finish of harvest and for happening in a year with record yield expectations. Taken with the signs of slight basis strength that were called out last week, ADM’s free DP program is another confirmation of farmers not selling very much in light of the lower prices. More will be known about corn yields after this weekend, with many in the Western Corn Belt still just getting into the full swing of harvest. There should be many areas where still having to wait for corn to be ready was a good thing, certainly in contrast with where, especially in the Eastern Corn Belt, the crop dried down exceptionally quickly as an extension of the season’s dry weather finish.
