On the Grains Grains are mixed but leaning firmer in overnight trade. Overnight headlines are dominated by commentary on last night’s presidential debate. Even Democrats conceded it was a poor performance for President Biden. CNN’s own post-debate polling showed two-thirds of viewers thought Trump clearly “won” and high-profile Dems are now talking openly on-air about potential alternatives.   Corn and beans got off to a bad start yesterday when weekly export sales came in disappointing for both. At 542,000 tonnes corn sales were near the low end of the expected range and soybeans didn’t even make the low end of the range at only 283,000 tonnes. On a year to date basis, the export situation isn’t nearly so bad. YTD corn sales are up 37.6% vs. the USDA forecast for just a 29.4% increase. In beans, YTD sales are off 14.9%, but not much worse than the 14.7% decline expected.   Wheat had a very strong day yesterday after another week of excellent export sales. At 667,000 tonnes they exceeded the top end of expectations and YTD sales are now more than 44% ahead of last year vs. USDA’s forecast for only an 11% increase.   Today is the long-awaited…
